INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The Kentucky Journalism Foundation’s Internship Program has been offered annually since 1993, with the exception of 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Kentucky Press Association’s Past Presidents select Host Newspapers from applications submitted by eligible newspapers, and then the Host Newspapers receive access to the application of students.
Host Newspapers select their student intern and offer the student to spend up to 400 hours working in a newspaper environment.
Students interested in news, advertising sales, photography, online or layout/design are encouraged to apply. Students do not have to be majoring in journalism to be eligible.
The internship program was created in 1993 to give students a real-life experience of working in a newspaper environment, with a design to attract them to journalism as a career.
If you have questions about the internship, talk with your student publication advisor. You can also contact KPA Executive Director David Thompson at 502-223-8821 or dthompson@kypress.com.
If you are interested in being a Host Newspaper, please reach out to Thompson at the contact information above.
