The Messenger, a three-day-a-week newspaper and daily website in Madisonville, KY, is looking for its next sports reporter. The ideal candidate has a passion for prep sports and is eager to make their mark in a community that looks to the newspaper as its primary source of local sports news. We need someone who is self-directed, can write clean copy and take their own photographs. Primary coverage is high school sports and outdoors activities. The Messenger is part of a family-owned group of newspapers that also publishes statewide prep roundup e-editions. Experience is preferred, although we will consider talented, committed newcomers to the field. Compensation is competitive and includes benefits such as a company-matched 401(k), health insurance, paid time off and mileage reimbursement.
