The Ledger Independent is seeking a full-time sports reporter to cover a seven-county area focusing on prep sports. We're looking for a multi-skilled journalist to cover a variety of sports in a fast paced environment when it comes to games, features and deadlines. The job comes with a passion for journalism and community sports news ready to showcase the talent across the Maysville area through their writing and delivery. Social media savviness is a must to continue our development with digital content throughout our platform whether it be stories, photos or videos. This opportunity ideally matches the fit for someone looking to make the move to a daily newspaper or a recent college graduate who needs to get their foot in the door. Additional coverage includes University of Kentucky among many other area colleges, Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds. A journalism degree with at least a year of experience is preferred, but not required. Nights and weekends will be required. The Ledger Independent is a morning newspaper printed five days a week.
